A fifth grade teacher in a Christian school asked her class to look at TV commercials and see if they could use them in some way to communicate ideas  about God.

DOES HE EXISTS?

This is one of the best explanations of why God allows pain and suffering that I have seen. 

It's an explanation other people will understand:

A lady went to a beauty shop to have her hair cut and her nails painted and trimmed. 

As the lady began to work, they began to have a good conversation. 

They talked about so many things and various subjects.  When they eventually touched on the

subject of God, the beautician said: "I don't believe that God exists."

"Why do you say that?" asked Sheryl who has MS.

"Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist. 

Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people?  Would there be abandoned children?

 If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. 

I can't imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things."

Then, Sheryl thought for a moment, but didn't respond because she didn't want to

start an argument.  The beautician just finished her job and the customer left the shop. 

Just after she left the beauty shop, she saw a woman in the street with long, stringy,

dirty hair and not groomed at all.  She looked dirty and unkempt.

 Then Sheryl turned back and entered the beauty shop again

 and she said to the beautician: "You know what?  Beauticians do not exist."

"How can you say that?" asked the surprised beautician. 

"I am here, and I am a beautician.  And I just worked on you!"

"No!"  Sheryl exclaimed.  "Beauticians don't exist because if they did,

there would be no people with dirty long hair and be very unkempt, like that woman outside."

"Ah, but beauticians DO exist!  What happens is, people do not come to me."

 "Exactly!"  - affirmed Sheryl.  "That 's the point!  God, too, DOES exist! 

What happens, is, people don't go to Him and do not look for Him. 

That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."

Five Finger Prayer This is so neat. I had never heard this before. This is beautiful - and it is surely worth making the 5 finger prayer a part of our lives. 1. Your thumb is nearest you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a "sweet duty." 2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers. 3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance. 4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger, as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them. 5. And lastly comes our little finger - the smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, "The least shall be the greatest among you." Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively. If you decide to send this to a friend, you might brighten someone's day! Pass this on to someone special... I did.

The Price of Children

This is just too good not to pass on to all. Something absolutely positive for a change.  I have repeatedly seen the breakdown of the cost of raising a child, but this is the first time I have seen the rewards listed this way.  It's  wonderful .

The government recently calculated the cost of raising a child from birth to 18 and came up with $160,140 for a middle income family.  Talk about sticker shock!  That doesn't even touch college tuition.

But $160,140 isn't so bad if you break it down.  It translates into:

* $8,896.66 a year,
* $741.38 a month, or
* $171.08 a week.
* That's a mere $24.24 a day!
* Just over a dollar an hour.

Still, you might think the best financial advice is don't have children if you want to be "rich."   Actually, it is just the opposite. What do you get for your $160,140?
* Naming rights First, middle, and last!
* Glimpses of God every day.
* Giggles under the covers every night.
* More love than your heart can hold.
* Butterfly kisses and Velcro hugs.
* Endless wonder over rocks, ants, clouds, and warm cookies.
* A hand to hold, usually covered with jelly or chocolate.
* A partner for blowing bubbles, flying kites.
* Someone to laugh yourself silly with, no matter what the boss said or how your stocks performed that day.

For $160,140, you never have to grow up. You get to:
* finger-paint,
* carve pumpkins,
* play hide-and-seek,
* catch lightning bugs, and
* never stop believing in Santa Claus.

You have an excuse to:
* keep reading the Adventures of Piglet and Pooh,
* watching Saturday morning cartoons,
* going to Disney movies, and
* wishing on stars.
* You get to frame rainbows, hearts, and flowers under refrigerator magnets and collect spray painted noodle wreaths for Christmas, hand prints set in clay or Mother's Day, and cards with backward letters for Father's Day.

For $160,140, there is no greater bang for your buck.  You get to be a hero just for:
* retrieving a Frisbee off the garage roof,
* taking the training wheels off a bike,
* removing a splinter,
* filling a wading pool,
* coaxing a wad of gum out of bangs, and coaching a baseball team that never wins but always gets treated to ice cream regardless.

You get a front row seat to history to witness the:
* first step,
* first word,
* first bra,
* first date, and
* first time behind the wheel.

You get to be immortal..  You get another branch added to your family tree, and if you're lucky, a long list of limbs in your obituary called grandchildren and great grandchildren  You get an education in psychology, nursing, criminal justice, communications, and human sexuality that no college can match.

In the eyes of a child, you rank right up there under God.  You have all the power to heal a boo-boo, scare away the monsters under the bed, patch a broken heart, police a slumber party, ground them forever, and love them without limits, So . . one day they will, like you, love without counting the cost.  That is quite a deal for the price!!!!!!!

Dice una linda leyenda árabe que dos amigos viajaban por el desierto y en un determinado punto del viaje discutieron. El otro, ofendido, sin nada que decir, escribió en la arena:

HOY, MI MEJOR AMIGO ME PEGO UNA BOFETADA EN EL ROSTRO.

Siguieron adelante y llegaron a un oasis donde resolvieron bañarse. El que había sido abofeteado y lastimado comenzó a ahogarse, siendo salvado por el amigo. Al recuperarse tomó un estilete y escribió en una piedra:

HOY, MI MEJOR AMIGO ME SALVO LA VIDA.

Intrigado, el amigo preguntó:

¿Por qué después que te lastimé, escribiste en la arena y ahora escribes en una piedra?

Sonriendo, el otro amigo respondió:

Cuando un gran amigo nos ofende, deberemos escribir en la arena donde el viento del olvido y el perdón se encargarán de borrarlo y apagarlo; por otro lado cuando nos pase algo grandioso, deberemos grabarlo en la piedra de la memoria del corazón donde viento ninguno en todo el mundo podrá borrarlo. 

 

Una amiga que trabaja vendiendo joyas de oro, llamada Sarita, un día dejó en su velador una bolsita papel con dos anillos de oro de alto valor. Mientras ella cocinaba su esposo Arturo se ofreció a ordenar la pieza. Sin darse cuenta echó esa bolsita de papel a la basura y finalmente el camión recolector retiró la bolsa de basura de la casa.

A las horas después, la esposa se da cuenta que las joyas no estaban y preguntando a su marido ambos se percatan que las joyas se fueron en la basura.

El sale corriendo en su auto detrás del camión hasta llegar al depósito, donde tuvo que esperar que ese camión en especial llegara y botara su nauseabunda carga. Con plásticos en los brazos tuvo que escarbar en la basura hasta que identificó su bolsa por unas rosas secas que había puesto en ella.

La alegría de este hombre fue tan grande cuando encontró las joyas que no le importó llegar sucio a su casa con su hermoso tesoro.

Así Dios envió a su Hijo para buscarnos en medio de la miseria humana y encontrarnos y sacarnos del basural del pecado a una nueva vida no importando el costo que tuvo que pagar por el pecador.
